Alan, you had the very rare gift of giving so much to Spring Creek, without actually living in The Creek. My adult children also thought the 4 square man was an advert for Mr Withers! I remember when i first met you, the Apple and Pear Board had caught fire. The local woman got together to feed the firemen as they were going to be there all day. I went up to the store to get the required supplies. As I came to the checkout and explained the situation, you very gently said ` there is no charge for these goods" . I told all the ladies doing the refreshments and the word was out that this guy was ok. I believe that attitude of support and caring was always appreciated and epitomises who you were as a person. Condolences to all who love you. Janice Ellis(née Collins).

Allan gave me my first full time job in 2003 at the Creek Foodcentre. He taught me to work hard, think outside the box, and to always be busy doing something worthwhile. I loved working for Allan and with his loyal team in that shop. He paid me very fairly and gave me pay increases without me asking, he was very generous and thoughtful and also hilarious. We had so many laughs. The 18 months I spent working with Allan and Adrian were some of the best times of my life. I am sorry I cannot attend his service, but please know that I am thinking of him and will never forget all he taught me. Lots of love to Adrian and the rest of Allan's family.

My sister and I met Allan and Elaine on a trip to eastern Europe about 5 years ago. We travelled together for 2 weeks and we became good friends. They were a fun couple and made our holiday an unforgetable experience. A year later they came to visit us in Winnipeg, Canada. I shall never forget them as long as I live. My sympathies go out to Allan's family. He was one of a kind. ( Bob Brown and Mary Van Vliet )

Had such a wonderful time on the River Cruise from Budapest to Prague with Allan and Elaine in 2015. My brother Bob and I so enjoyed your company, and especially when you had a stopover in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada for a few days and we got to see you again.

Condolences to Andrew and Adrian..I have never forgotten the 1st April 1984, starting at Foodstuffs in Stuart Street and working alongside your Dad doing up bulk orders on my first day, I learnt a lot about the grocery trade from him and he taught me so much in the years he was there before he moved to Spring Creek Four Square.. he was to me the true Four Square man.. was good to see him a few weeks ago and share one last hug and chat. Treasure your memories..he was a great man with a big heart.
