Beverley MAATA-HART Obituary

Beloved daughter of the late Steve (dec) and Connie (dec) Hart, loved sister of Marg (dec), Kath (dec), Dot, Pip (dec), Rose (dec), Pam, loved mother of Tony, Brydon, Sean, Tania (dec), Nicola, Marlene, and Ngaire, and dearly loved Nana to her mokopuna Brendan, Shae, Hinerupe, Tanekaha, Isla, Hailee, Vanessa, Rachel, Jacinta, Rosa, Rangimarie, James-Dylan, Grayson and Beau. Bev passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, and is currently lying at 478 Hagley Ave, Christchurch (parking available at Hagley College), visitors welcome. The whanau will head to Waikawa Marae, Picton, on Saturday morning, October 4, at 7.00am. The powhiri onto the marae is at 2.00pm. Poroporoaki will be Sunday night at 7.00pm. The service will be on Monday, October 6 at 10.00am, thereafter cremated and interred at Picton Cemetery.

Very sad to hear of BEV´s passing. I had the privilege of working alongside Bev at Queen Charlotte College. She was a very gracious lady who did alit of good work with students and their families. Rest in peace Bev.

Te Kura Tuarua o Opunake

Bev was a Deputy Principal, Te Reo and Drama teacher at Te Kura Tuarua o Opunake (Opunake High School). She was a passionate kaiako of Te ao Maori with unwavering support and commitment to our rangatahi. Bev had a wicked sense of humour with an infectious cheeky smile and aroha for all.

This was your greeting without fail Whaea Bev.
We had some very interesting Awhina trips, lessons and telling offs with you at Opunake High, needless to say you were one teacher we will all remember for the rest of our lives. To your whanau, condolences to you all Kia Kaha, Kia Maia, Kia Manawanui. Moe mai ra Whaea Bev.
