Deirdre ELLIOTT Obituary

I am so very, very sorry to learn of this tragic news via Facebook. I knew Deirdre from her time at the RNCM in Manchester, UK, where I was also a voice student. I vividly remember her infectious smile and her beautiful, expressive singing. When I visited Sydney for the first time 5 yrs ago I was able to say "Hi" to her again at the opera house, and it was lovely to see her after so many years. She had not changed a bit. My thoughts are with all of her family and friends, and I am sure that I can faithfully extend that sentiment to include all who knew Deirdre from our time at college together. Rest in peace, Deirdre. You were a loved light in this world.

My sincere condolences to all the Elliott family. I was so pleased I decided to make my Oz trip in April and spent some great time with Dee. She touched so many with her generosity of spirit, her awesome voice and laughter. Last time I saw her was after a show in Melbourne and we all shared some champagne . She then sang goodbye to us in the car park. Much love to you all. Thank you Kate for your bravery and kindness .

Such devastating news, it's been so long since I have seen Deirdre but thanks to Facebook she is never far from my thoughts, and I have been so proud of her, seeing all the wonderful pictures. Dear Gwenette, Kate and family. I was so sorry to hear the very sad news about Deirdre. I remember when I was a teenager watching her on the Mobil Song Quest. She made a very strong impression on me then, and from the look of all the comments I have seen online she continued to make that impression everywhere she went. My deepest sympathy to you all.

Your heart and smile and voice touched us all. We miss you already.

Fondly remember that girl with the big personality, that I went through primary, with and then college. You had such talent, wow you made us all so proud. My thoughts are with your family and friends at this time.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Deirdre's family at this tragic time. Her loss has shocked and devastated her chorus colleagues, but memories of her spirit and wicked sense of humour have helped us to continue doing the job she loved so much. Deidre played the Moonlight Sonata to a bunch of uneducated 5th formers at Kuranui and this is one who never forgot..I was transported. My heart is with you all at the loss of a loved daughter and sister - something my family has gone through as well. Take your strength from each other and be kind to yourselves. Deepest sympathy

My sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the wonderful woman that was Deirdre. She was such a caring, quick witted, funny and supportive colleague, but most importantly, the best human being and friend; that we could all aspire to be like her. Her presence on stage, in rehearsal rooms, in the hallways of Opera Australia and in our lives will be greatly missed. How lucky we are that we have such wonderful memories to cherish!
