Irene and I worked together in Picton for the Picton Borough council parks and reserves a very long time ago . We spent lots of time diving and fishing in Port Underwood and she used to host the Blenheim Dive Club on trips out of her Bach in Hakahaka bay. I was lucky enough to buy the Bach when she finally decided go on other adventures in her new camper van. She was a kind and generous woman with strong views on things she believed in. Always ready to fight for a cause my kids enjoyed her love of the sea our whanau will miss you my friend but Waverley Star will be happy to see you. Rest in peace Irene x
