John MAY Obituary

MAY, John Edward:
On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Springlands Lifestyle Village. In his 95th year. Deeply loved and cherished husband of the late Pauline. Treasured and respected Father/Father-in-law of Cheryl and Phillip Sowman, Janette May (Deceased) Sandeep Davli (Wellington), Dianne and Henry Raemaekers (Perth) and the late Paul. Cherished Pop of Brad and Monique (Australia), Nina and Roger (Blenheim) and Josh (Perth). Great-Pop to Sophia, Cruz, Ava, Archie and Evie. John was a passionate Marlbourian, who keenly shared his local knowledge. Never backward to lend a hand to help get a job done. He was humbled to receive the "Paul Harris" medal for service to Rotary. John also gave decades of service to the Marlborough Vintage Car Club, Brayshaw Park, Probus and other committees. The majority of his working life was spent as a loyal Cuddon employee for over 40 years. Taking pleasure from life's simple things, he loved a bit of banter, company of friends and a good laugh. His unconditional love enriched our family. Our hearts are sad but rest peacefully knowing you will always be deeply loved. Messages to the family can be sent to 41 Swamp Road, RD3 Blenheim. A private cremation at the Sowman Crematorium has been held.

It was dad to hear of John's passing. Have memories as a small child to play at the May's and marveling at the old cars that would be in the garage.
Mowat st has lost the last of the old characters.

Deepest sympathy to you all. I have very fond memories of when we first met Pauline and John at Momorangi Bay in the 1960´s, the start of a long friendship. Memories that last forever. Bev Searle and family.

Sincere sympathy to all the family for the loss of a fine man and loved family member.
Our late father John Finnie was in the VCC for many, many years with Johnny May and absolutely loved his company and humour. Many happy memories of the VCC picnics in the 1960ies!
