John MCEVOY Obituary

I have just stumbled upon this sad news so late. I also remember Father McEvoy from St. Elizabeth Church as a choir member and student at St. Elizabeth Elementary School. He was such a fun, thoughtful, funny man who was always willing to lend an ear no matter what. I will remember his kind gesture of blessing a bracelet I had brought one day to Mass during school. He stopped his sermon and blessed it for me. He was just that kind of man. He always put a smile on our faces and kept our time in church interesting. There was absolutely never a dull moment with him.
You will be truly missed and truly loved and remembered Father.
Rest in peace and keep them on their toes up there! Xo

Father McEvoy was the most wonderful outspoken "pro-life" (anti-abortion) priest I ever met, as he always seemed to integrate a pro-life comment into his Mass homilies. Fr.McEvoy was so kind to me when I first became acquainted with him around 5 years ago at St.Basil's Church after a week-day morning Mass. I'm still grateful for the coffee Fr.McEvoy offered to buy me at TimHorton's coffee shop on that very first day we met after Mass. Thanks be to God for Fr.McEvoy's priestly ministry. Our deepest condolences on the passing of Fr. Francis. He was an amazing man and priest. He always had a joke and made us laugh. We saw him many times at Church, and at Perkins restaurant. He gave me a present of a rosary with babies in it. I will treasure it always! We will miss him, his smile and kindness!
We only just found out of his passing and was totally shocked and saddened., but now he's watching down, and I know he never wanted anyone to be sad. He's with God. His room was ready, and God called him, and obediently Fr. Francis said "here I am".

Fr. Francis had such an immense impact on me growing up and I was so blessed to visit with him over lunch this summer before moving away from Ottawa. Love and prayers to Sister Alice, Beatrice, Dennis, Genevieve and Mary. I will sure miss him!!

I was a young child when I first met Father McEvoy at George Vanier, Kanata where he held youth groups and mass.

Later on in life, in 1987, I was able to reconnect with Father McEvoy at St. Elizabeth's parish, where he graciously opened up his church to unite David and I in marriage.

He was kind, caring and funny. We were extremely fortunate to have had Father McEvoy in our lives. He has left a legacy and will be missed.

Father Mcevoy, you will be forever remembered in our hearts. A man of many jokes and laughter at St. Elizabeths Church.

The Boyle family is deeply saddened by Father McEvoy's passing. It seems weird in some ways since I can't ever remember my life without him in it. He was an integral part of our family and never missed an opportunity to join us for any family event - big or small. His capacity to love was only surpassed by his capacity to teach - whether it was penny poker and telling jokes or prayers and how to help a person in need. He was always bringing different people out to the farm to meet us and enjoy one of my mom's home cooked meals. He baptised many of us, heard our confessions regularly, married us, blessed our homes and comforted and guided us through the death of our loved ones most particularly that of my father. He was a mentor and role model to us children, a dear friend to my parents. Our loss however means that heaven will shine a little brighter from now on. I know that my dad Charlie, my uncles Nellie (Chalut) and Paul (Nolan) were there to greet him... and maybe he will finally teach my dad how to tell a joke.. punch line and all. We will love you forever Father Mac.

I am so sad to read of Father McEvoy's sudden passing. He was an amazing Priest, Friend and confidant. He always had a joke and big smile when I would run into him either at the grocery store or Tim Horton's. Our Lord has a very special angel with him now.

We are sad to hear of your passing. You always were loved and I still recall always kissing your hand after your services. Mom prayed for you every day. May your sense of humour make them all laugh in heaven, Keep us all safe and take care of those we loved that our now with you.

Spending time with the Holy Eucharist was one of his greatest Loves. His second love was to make others smile.
I have always been so proud to call him Uncle Francis. I praise God for his call and ministry to the priesthood and I'm grateful for his service and witness to the faith. The Catholic Church blessed him and he was a blessing to the Church. Our entire family mourns his loss but we know he is home. Condolences and prayers to all who knew and loved Father Francis.

Father McEvoy was an amazing Priest ! I remember him from St.Elizabeth Church even though I was Greek Orthodox he always told me that the house of the Lord is one. May his Angel Wings guide he to his resting place!

It is with great sadness to have read this. Father McEvoy was an amazing priest who like everyone has said - he had a sense of humour and made his service a fun and very loving time. Father Francis was a tremendous inspiration in faith to so many during his "often" visits to Our Lady of the Visitation Parish. Recently, during Father Brian's "healing" time, Father Francis indicated during his homilies that he knew where his journey would take him--and that it wasn't far off. We offer our condolences to all the Family--and we will miss his warm words, mischievious smile and hand-shake.

I have wonderful memories of Father McEvoy when he was parish priest at St. Margaret Mary's. What a great sense of humour and outstanding spiritual leader. You will be in my prayers.

Will remember Father Francis fondly. Had the Honour of him performing our marriage, as well as performing that of my wife's parents Bob & Nicole Albert. As well as my wife being an Altar server when she was young. Was a privilege to have met him & be an important part of our lives. Made you feel at ease no matter what was going on.

Father Francis will also be greatly missed by the parishioners of St. Michael Corkery, where he brought so much life and light to every Mass he celebrated for us -- especially on his New Year's Day birthday! He was always a breath of fresh air, and good and kind soul. I will never forget sharing stories with him about life over a summertime supper of trout in Almonte. I will miss my friend, Francis.

Father McEvoy was a kind, caring and devout priest who will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour. How he kept track of all of our names when he would come to family celebrations, I will never know. RIP gentleman of the faith.

I remember Father McCoy at St Elizabeth during mass he made it interesting when we were young .... He helped me threw hard times all in all he's a great man we will miss him tremendously heavens getting another angel !

An amazing priest - so caring, so giving and so selfless. This is a great loss for so many.

Father McEvoy's humour will be missed. I have such good memories of him, growing up in St. Isidore's parish and through the years since.

Father McEvoy was always such a nice man. As children, at St Isidores', he always had the time to answer my sisters' and my questions about God and faith, no matter what he was doing in the church at the time. He was a genuinely good man.

We are sad to hear of FR Francis death. We have been friends for many years and he baptized two of our children at St Maurice. He helped out at Our Lady of Visitation on many occasions which was very much appreciated.
