Maureen WHITE Obituary

Died March 20, 2024 in Richmond, Nelson, two days short of her 98th birthday. Born in England, Maureen trained as a nurse during WWII, and came to New Zealand in 1948. She met and married her beloved Bill (deceased), and raised four children in Marlborough. Maureen revelled in everything New Zealand offered her, but never forgot the Sussex coastline. She adored her dogs and everyone else's too; prized honesty; and loved white chocolate; morning coffee; the beauty and power of words; her church fellowship; crosswords; cricket; monarch butterflies; the morepork's call; letter writing; her garden. But above all, she loved her family, her children Vicky, Moira, Philippa and Michael; her stepdaughter Jacqui; her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and everyone's spouses and partners. A very special mother-in-law to Richard and Nikki. She had a beautiful smile, and used it all the time. Special thanks to everyone who cared so wonderfully for Maureen during the last few months. A service to celebrate Maureen's beautiful life will be held at St John's Church, Edward Street, Wakefield, on Saturday, March 23, at 11.00am.
