I worked with Michael at Centerpoint New World.I have fond memories of Michael so I am saddened to read of his passing. Michael gave the cheekiest of grins and was always determined to get the work done, it was a pleasure knowing and being part of his life even though it was only a small part.

Had many an adventure with Michael J. and a lot of laughs,
being a fellow storeman at Centrepoint New World Supermarket [ R.D & A.E Hubert -Owners] mid 80's.He was a very hard worker , great with the trolleys and the bread [ 'was always on a mission' ] To me Michael wasn't 'special '....
I always treated him as 'one of the lads'.I encouraged him to go out flatting and gave instruction on the basics of home cleaning.
I remember his parents as being very nice gentle people.
There was of course the odd prank and remember vividly running down the street trying to get Michael to come back ,as one of the storeman had sent him off to get 'striped paint' from one of the local paint merchants.......Mike gave as good as he got....all in good taste.
Great memories of a unique character with a great smile.
