On November 7, 2015, peacefully in Blenheim, surrounded by family, in her 92nd year. Dearly loved wife of the late Owen Smith, and the late Douglas McAlpine. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Alistair and Marilyn; Ruth and
Ray Hoare (Christchurch);
Robin and Rosemary (Albany); Ian and Glenis; Lindsay and Kim; Tony and Brenda. A loved grandmother of Sarah and Craig, Emma and Dan, Kate and Keiran; Guy, Scott and Lee, Rob; Kenneth, Douglas,
Shannon, Caitlin, Courtney,
and Braiden; James, Clare and Mark, Kieran; Lisa and Louis; Matthew, Annalise and Nicole; and loved great-grandmother to Hannah and Hayley; Angel Georgia, Bailey and Sam, Charlie and Zoe; and Ollie. A much respected friend of the Owen's family.

Requiem Mass for Muriel will be celebrated at St Mary's Catholic Church, Maxwell Road, Blenheim, on Tuesday, November 10, at 2.00pm, followed by interment at the Fairhall Cemetery.
