Peter MCMILLAN Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Springlands Lifestyle Village. Aged 91 years. A treasured husband to the late Erica (née Beck). A wonderful father and father-in-law to Christine (Holland), Dave and Lynda (Cambridge) and Brian and Nancy (Queenstown), and Ted Baijings (Holland). Grandad to Oliver, Jasper and Gabriel Baijings, Steve and Ricky, Brodie and Daniel and Great-Grandad to Hunter. A loved brother-in-law to Rosemary and Gordon Leech. Best mate of Wim van Velthooven and Paul Hamlyn Snr. A good honest bloke with a huge zest for life, who definitely got the most out of his 91 years. Loved by many people and renowned for his participation in various clubs (Marlborough Guild of Woodworkers and Picton RSA) and projects he supported (Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary and Waikawa Ratepayers' Association). He will live on in our memories. He was a great example of "arriving at the end of the journey" in a somewhat battered chassis with a few bits missing. We will all miss you Pete. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to support one of Peter's regular places to visit, a donation to the Marlborough Guild of Woodworkers would be most appreciated and may be made at his service or to a/c 03-1355-0685533-000 Ref. A memorial service for Peter will be held at the Mayfield Chapel, cnr Hutcheson and Parker Streets, at 1.30pm, on Friday, September 30.

Peter, sadly you will be missed. Condolences to your entire family.
I remember meeting you through the Ashwood retirement home at dinner time with a cheeky smile on your face and wink in your eye. From there I looked forward to every dinner when I would see your smiling face and have a chat. The trip to support you with your prosthetic leg and the theatre shows where we shared a laugh.
Later the visits to see you at Springlands where you shared history through time and your latest wood work creation without a care in the world for the time.
Rest In Peace Peter.
Legs are for walking and help you move,
Hands are for making and create.

Our deepest condolences to all Peter´s family.
Such a knowledgeable adventurous lively Gentleman, with a beautiful sense of humour. A Neighbour and a loyal Friend. With fondness memory´s it saddens us to say good bye. I´m sure you will pop up in our life at some time again. Always full of surprises! RIP Pete! You are now with your Beautiful Erica, as you used to say, My Girl ! Whom you missed and Loved Dearly. Peter was such a lovely, lively character with a wonderful positive outlook, and a story for every occasion! It was such a pleasure to know him and care for him while I was at Springlands Lifestyle Village. I have such fond memories of our many wonderful outings - and his eagerness to sit up in the front seat with me and supervise my driving! He had a great sense of adventure and was always so appreciative of even the smallest kindness. I think of him often and feel truly privileged and all the richer for knowing him. Rest in peace Peter. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to Dave, Brian and all the family and may your many happy memories comfort you in your grief. He is very sadly missed by so many.
