Thomas (Tom) Argubright, 95, a resident of the Illinois Veterans' Home in LaSalle, formerly of Oglesby, died on July 6, 2024 at 5:35PM in the Veterans' Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11th in Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby, starting at 7:00PM. Rev. Gregory Jarzombek, O.S.B. will officiate. Visitation will precede the funeral service beginning at 4:00PM. The LaSalle-Oglesby Veterans' Memorial Group will conduct full military rites outside the funeral chapel immediately following the funeral service. Cremation rites will be accorded with private burial at a later date.
Tom was born on Decoration Day, May 30, 1929 in Oglesby to Herman and Mary (Frost) Argubright. He serviced in the US Army in Korea from 1951 - 1953. He married Florence (Flossie) Gardin February 15, 1958 in Holy Family Church, Oglesby.
Tom worked as a maintenance electrician for Remington Rand, Graphic Electronics, Bakelite (Union Carbide), and Mobil Chemical Co. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Oglesby and was a past Commander of the Oglesby American Legion.
He is survived by his seven children: Jane (Dennis) Ortinau of El Paso, IL; Tim of Arlington Heights, IL; Jeff (Trudy) of Oglesby, Peggy of Irvine, CA; Sally (Greg) Gillan of Eagle River, WI; Danny and Paul of Oglesby; 11 grandchildren –Thomas, Sarah, Joseph, Katy, Albert, Sam, Mary, Lydia, Jacob, Caleb, and Gus; a brother-in-law, Don (Carey) Gardin of Fond du Lac, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Flossie in 2021; his parents; four brothers: Edward, Eugene, Joseph (Spud), and George; and one sister, Mary Lou (Len) Twardowski.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans' Home in LaSalle or the donor's choice.
