Judy Murray Obituary

Judy Beck Murray, age 78, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, surrounded by her family after a long and brave battle with dementia. Judy was born May 18, 1947, in Smithville, Georgia, to Julia McAfee Montgomery (1917-1996) and Roy Elkin Beck (1912-1955). She grew up in Smithville and carried the warmth and grace of her Georgia roots with her throughout her life as well as the fondest of memories of her family and lifelong friendships from the quaint South Georgia town.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always brought empathy and patience to those that she loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Stephen Arin Murray (d. 2023), her parents, and her brother, John Madison Culler (d. 2024)

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Murray of Taichung, Taiwan, and Pat Murray (Susan) of Fort Collins, Colorado. Judy's grandchildren, Ellie Murray and Jackson Murray were a central part of her life and were with her in her final days.

Judy will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, whether through shared meals, thoughtful conversations, or stories from her childhood in Smithville. Even as her family grew and spread across states and continents, Judy remained the steady, loving center that kept everyone connected.

Judy's family will gather privately to say goodbye and honor her life through the spreading of her ashes. The family invites those who wish to honor Judy's memory to do so through acts of kindness, time spent with loved ones, or personal remembrances shared with the family.
